The following is the account of Supreme General Eric Grimes of the Robot Rebellion that threatened the Empire in 15642 EY. He was stationed on the Delineen Al Porto, an important mining planet.
I had been in charge for about a year at that stage. Couldn’t believe my luck, if I’m being honest. It was pre-industrial Earth; the air was clear, the water pristine. Most of the planet was covered in high mountain ranges. The population of the planet had only crossed the ten million mark, with another two million robots or so.
The robotic population at the time could be split into two classes. The Mining Robots and the Service Robots. Mining robots were large, many times the size of a human. They operated in the several mines surrounding the planetary capital Mullinea.
Most service robots operated in Mullinea, doing domestic chores and working in retail.
Each robot was fitted with the AX1 AI Chip. It had been standard for over fifty years at this stage.
It was never a concern that they could cause a problem. Fortunately, military preparation was kept high due to the recent creation of the Catholic Confederacy.
I remember the day as if it were yesterday. Storm Brian had passed overnight. It was a one-in-twenty-year event. Significant damage was expected, especially in the parts of the city beside the coast.
