The Fleadh (Romance) Part 3

“Oh I’m from the big smoke. Down here visiting my good friend Mick,” replied Eddie.

“I’m a good friend am I? I thought I was just your latest guide dog and not even your favorite one at that,” interjected Mick to much laughter.

“Now you’ve been a good doggy today. Don’t go and ruin it with insubordination.”

Then Danielle asked him if he liked animals, when led to a lengthy discussion about his usual guide dog Berlin and her two little mutts Ringo and Daisy. She had beautiful soft voice, that Eddie found very attractive.

“That’s it, they have stopped serving,” said Mick apologetically.

“Already?”

“Well, it is past 2 in the morning Eddie. I do have some shorts back at the house. Maybe, the women would like to join us?”

Danielle’s response was immediate. Yvonne’s more retrospect.

“Of course!”

“Well, maybe for one.”

“I’ll guide you” Danielle interlocked her arm with Eddies and off the group went. Mick’s house was only two streets away and there were others on the way home or to the tent too.

“You don’t mind me, guiding you I hope?”

“Of course not, to have a good looking woman helping me. Are you joking?”

“Now you don’t know I’m good looking. I’m not no oil painting I’m afraid.”

“Well, you have a lovely voice and smell anyway.”

They reached the house but Eddie quickly found himself alone with a bottle of whiskey and Danielle in the kitchen. Just like he would have wanted.

They talked for some time about Danielle, her hopes for the future and what she would like in a man.

“Are you not curious what I look like?”

“Of course, but I would have to see you with my hands.”

She moved the palms of his hands onto her face.

She had a narrow face, thick eyebrows, skin software and thick luscious lips. Taking his hands away, she leaned in and they began to kiss. He slowly moved his hand through her thick, curly hair.

“Have you got your own room here?”

“Yes, well maybe you can lead me to it.”

Mick knew this house like the back of his hand, he guided her up the stairs to his room. There was some moaning coming from the other room that caused them to giggle. Danielle then closed the door and they began to undress.

She had small, perky breasts and a thin waist. He started to kiss each inch of her body before going between her legs. She moaned in ecstasy before guiding him on to the bed. Then she felt him caress and touch his body. His chest, then stomach, then lower before he released. Shattered they fell fell asleep in each others arms.

The fleadh (Romance) Part 2

It didn’t take as long for the two men to retrace their steps. Eddie could still her the chatter of people, but the wall of sound from earlier had dissipated.

“Where is everybody gone Mick?”

“Well, the families are long gone by now. Everybody else is in one of the pubs. Don’t worry, we’ll have you back in the action soon.

Just a few minutes later, they had arrived.

“It’s actually called the Glush Garden. There’s a lovely colourful mural over the entrance just above a surprisingly happy looking bouncer. Come on, we’ll head in.”

Eddie could feel the softness of the ground underneath. It wasn’t grass, but wasn’t asphalt. More mushy. They were still outside but with tables and chairs. They found a good spot to sit down and Mick went to a close by bar to get some drinks. Normal pop music was now being played over the speakers. Eddie didn’t mind, he had his fill of the traditional music by this point.

The pints continued to flow. Mick thought they were a bit smaller than the norm but it more than worth it for a bit of space. It wasn’t long before nature called for Eddie. They were now walking over grass to a portable toilet.

On their way, Mick heard someone calling his name in the distance.

“Oh Yvonne is over there with a friend. Sure, we’ll go over and say hello.”

“Yeah, that sounds good.”

Yvonne was an old friend of Micks and she gave them both a warm hug.

She quickly and rather excitedly told them her friend’s name was Danielle.

Eddie immediate took centre stage.

“Where are from Danielle?”

:Oh, not too far away – Delvin. You?”

The fleadh (Romance) Part 1 b

Eddie could hear the voice of a young woman singing in Irish in the distance, the clatter of kids’ feet running over the asphalt pathways. Then, the smell of meat. Burgers to be precise. Just as well he had eaten or they would have had to stop. Mick motioned him this way and that way to avoid people coming in the opposite direction of which there were many.

“We are leaving the park now. What a crowd. I have never seen anything like it, the streets have been pedestrianized and they are clogged with people. The Annebrooke Hotel is here beside us. There is a canopy in front of it with an Irish trad band playing. Will we go in?”

“Yeah, sure why not? Sounds good.”

Slowly, they made their way under the canopy. People were bumping into them every second or two but that didn’t stop their slow progress forward.

“Here, there’s a table here. You defend the space, I’ll order the pints. The usual?”

“That’s right.”

Mick made everything so easy, there was telepathy between them by this stage. Automatically knowing to get him a Carlsberg. He really was spoiled, he thought to himself as he listened to the violins and banjos.

It didn’t take Mick long to return.

“They have loads of people working at the bar.

Three pints later they went inside to have their dinner up on the first floor. The windows were open and you could hear a cacophony of music and chatter from outside. It was a carvery, and Eddie made sure he got an extra helping of meat and potatoes.

Then they went to the next pub, Danny Byrnes, or as Mick calls it – “where the beautiful people work.”

They were only able to make it just inside the door but that was enough for Mick to do his magic and get more pints.

“So any talent here?”

“You have a one-track mind Eddie. There is, but they are all about twenty years too young for ya, given that you are now in your mid-forties.”

“Ah, don’t say that. There is life in the old dog yet!”

“Yeah, a bit too much.”

They stayed for a pint or two before going outside and making their way to Caffreys. Progress was glacial. Along, the way they paused to take in some Irish dancing that was taking place in the middle of the street. Eddie loved the clatter of the special shoes they wore against the tarmac. The energy of the dancers reverberated through the crowd.

On they continued, through Mount Street. Going backward at times, Eddie wondered when his thirst would be satiated. It was baking hot now.

Then Mick pulled him hard to the left and they were in the outdoor area of Caffreys. It was very busy and different groups of musicians were playing their music in each corner. Different people came up to say hello to them. Eddie was somewhat a local celebrity from his previous trips but it was difficult to have a good chat with anybody.

As the hours passed, it eventually became too much.

“I know just the spot for you Eddie – The Glush Bar.”

“Where’s that?”

“It’s a pop-up bar, that only exists during The Fleadh. Pretty sure it won’t be so crowded, giving you a chance to use your charm with the ladies.”

“Well, what are we waiting for?”

The fleadh (Romance) Part 1 a

Eddie had been looking forward to this day for quite some time. His opportunity to attend An Fleadh Cheoil or Traditional Irish music festival, which this year was being held in the town of Mullingar. His friend Mick had invited him down for the night and his house was in the ideal location, very close to all the main streets where all the action would take place. That and the fact Mick had offered to be his “guide dog” for the night made it too good of an opportunity to pass up.

You see Eddie has been blind since birth. He doesn’t live in darkness, he can’t even see that. His other senses though are far superior to the average person compensating him somewhat. It hasn’t held him or his boisterous personality back. Mick reckons that is why they get on so well. He is much quieter and more reserved. A perfect friendship.

They are just finished having a sandwich and are now about to head out, arms interlocked. Mick begins to speak.

“We’ll go through the park. There is a huge crowd expected in the town today. Let me know if it becomes too much and you want to head back.”

“Yeah like that is going to happen. Where are we heading to first anyway?”

“Don’t worry, you’ll be getting a pint soon.”

It only took a few moments to reach the park. Already, Eddie could hear to sound of a large crowd and music in the distance. He could feel the sense of excitement building.

Michael whispered into his ear.

“There are actually cars parked here in the park on the grass verge beside us. Imagine that, people are really desperate for somewhere to park.”

“Wow.”

They kept on walking and just in front of the swimming pool and met a myriad of stalls.

Wheelchair Wars (Part 6)

We are The Omega

We will become one

Glory to the Omega

Victory to the Omega

It was the same every time cycle. Timothy’s father would get him up and then dressed. Then to the meeting area. They would make multiple circles with their wheelchair. There were ten warriors in each circle. But this morning, there was one less circle.

After, the usual chanting, the loudspeaker ordered them to the video room. Timothy could hear some murmurings from the others as they made their way. He still had barely spoken to any of the others.

They parked in rows in the darkness before a large projection onto one of the walls. It was a group battle from hours previous. Ten participants from Omega versus ten from the hated Alpha. It soon became clear what had happened to the missing circle, they had been isolated and hacked to pieces one by one. Timothy found it hard to watch, but made sure to absorb as much as possible. The girl with auburn hair had parked beside him and he could see the tears rolling down her face.

The crowd in the video cheered voraciously as the last Omega, who had tried to escape was finally cornered and liquidated. Literally from an acidic fluid that was propelled over him. It took a few minutes for him to finally succumb.

Then the lights switch and the familiar voice spoke.

Defeat is not acceptable

Glory to the Omega,

The following are to stay, and the rest are to leave. A list ten of names were called out. His was one of them. They were all from his circle. and they had been nominated for the rematch in just a few hours’ time.

Going for a stroll (Part 5) (Warning: Sexual content)

Michael was nervously checking the time every few minutes. She would be here soon to watch Dr. Strangelove. Although now 22 years of age, this was the first time he ever had a romantic interest over at his apartment and he was nervous. Will she know that he is a virgin and more importantly, what will she make of it? Now, he was getting sweaty. This was going to be a disaster.

Flicking from one channel to the next, he couldn’t find anything to take his mind off things. Then his doorbell rang. The sound seemed to reverberate through him. He drove out and reached up to open the door. And there she was. More casually dressed in denim this time. She gave him a wide smile and bent down to peck him on the lips.

Then she followed him into his sitting before he said –

“You can sit on the couch and I’ll park here beside you.”

“Oh, can you not sit beside me on the couch?”

“Oh yeah, I guess I can.”.

He drove his wheelchair adjacent to the couch, then slowly lifted his foot-plates before transferring.

“I love the way you move. It’s so elegant.”

That was something he hadn’t heard before.

“Thanks, sometimes it feels awkward in front of people.”

“Never feel awkward around me.”

They began to watch the film. He put his arm around her. He could smell her perfume. Her hand started to caress his leg before resting on his crotch as they began to kiss. Then in a swift movement, she was on top of him and began taking off her shirt and bra.

“I’m not usually like this but I always thought you were super hot. And we’re serious about each other right?”

Michael quickly nodded in agreement into her brown eyes.

She threw her bra on the floor. He felt her soft breasts.

“Can you take off your pants?”

He felt his face going flush.

“It’s okay, you can trust me.”

With that, he unzipped his pants and pulled his trousers and underpants down.

She placed it inside her, straddling him before the rhythmic movements of back and forth began. Both had never felt such pleasure before, their bodies intertwined After a few minutes, they collapsed into each other arms.

She looked up into his eyes.

“Enjoying the film?”

Going for a stroll (Part 4)

Michael was waiting patiently at the table. It was a large, boisterous bar. Most were eating but some were drinking and chatting away. Paula was a bit late but she had texted to let him know. It would be such a shame if she didn’t show, he was wearing his finest suit just in case she was interested.

Then she appeared in the distance quickly walking towards him wearing a black gown and in high heels. Her red hair caressing her shoulders. He had never before seen such beauty.

She gave him a warm hug before sitting down next to him in his wheelchair

“Sorry, for being late. Had to make sure that I looked perfect for ya.”

“You achieved that anyway. You’re looking gorgeous.”

“So what are we going to eat?”

“Oh turkey and ham for me. What are you going to have?”

“I think the cod fillet.”

The setting was quite dark and romantic in the corner that he had chosen, making Michael slightly nervous. So, he started chatting about college once more, but she seemed to have lost interest in the subject somewhat. She started to take control of the situation.

“Tell me about your family.”

“What do you like to watch on tv?”

She was making it all so comfortable for him and she even laughed at his silly jokes.

The food was long gone by now and they were both on their fourth pint of ale.

“So, do you think its okay for the woman to make the first move?”

Michael thought it an odd question. Was she checking his feminist credentials?

“Of course, this is the twenty-first century after all.”

“I really like you. Can I kiss you?”

“Yeah.”

She moved her chair over beside his wheelchair, then leaned in for a kiss.”

Michael opened his mouth and her tongue entered. He could feel her hands touching his arms and chest.

She whispered –

“Next date is in your place.”

Going for a Stroll (Part 3)

Michael texted Paula a few days later but he didn’t get any response. Ah well, he thought to himself. He was disappointed but not surprised. It was probably the wheelchair or perhaps it was just his winning personality. Either way, he knew that there was little point in dwelling on it. No, he needed to concentrate on getting a good job and making something of himself. Perhaps, someday he’d meet a nice girl. So, he set about trying to get himself some interviews.

A few weeks later he was preparing for an interview with a big financial firm. It wouldn’t be his dream job, money wasn’t his main motivation but needs must. Then, he heard the sound of his phone buzzing. He didn’t get many texts so it piqued his interest and was quite surprised when the name Paula came up on the screen.

P – So sorry for taking so long to respond. I had an issue with the phone. How have you been?

It didn’t take long for Michael to respond.

M – I was wondering what happened. Great to hear. I am good. U?

P – Oh trying to decide what to do next. More study or work. Can’t ever make up my mind lol Do u want me 2 meet up ?

M – Yeah that would be gr8. Another stroll in the park?

P – I was thinking maybe a bite to eat, maybe a few drinks in Hennessys? Maybe 8pm Thursday?

M – Cool, see you then.

P – It’s a date. See u soon x

Michael could feel his heart beating. That was more affectionate than he was expecting. He knew he had to write something back but what?

M – ok x

Ok, that was all he could think of! No wonder he could never get laid. Ah well, at least he now had something to look forward to.

The interview went but he found that his mind kept slipping to Paula. Her beautiful red hair and those wide blue eyes. He wondered what his chances were with her. There was no harm in dreaming.

After what had seemed an eternity to Michael, Thursday night finally arrived.

Going for a Stroll (Part 2)

It didn’t take them long to reach the park where they pulled up beside a bench so his female companion could sit down. This was one of his favorite spots. The park itself was quite small, but it was insulated by vegetation that gave it a relaxed, rural feel. You could still see the high rise buildings though.

“It’s Paula right? I’ve always been terrible with names.”

“Yeah, that’s me alright.”

“Well, I always put in a bit of an extra effort for the pretty looking women.”

She laughed and then responded.

“So, what did you think of that Poisson Distribution question? I hope I never hear the word Poisson again!”

” Yeah, it was difficult but I’d studied extensively for it.”

And so the conversation flowed back and forth. Michael noticed that she would flick her hair back occassionally and he wondered if she was flirting with him.

An hour flew by before Paula said that sadly she had to go. Michael decided that it was time to be brave.

“Will we exchange numbers. Maybe we can meet up again sometime.”

“Yeah, that would be cool. What is your number and I’ll text you so that you have mine?”

Michael promptly called it out and he immediately heard the buzzing sound of his phone go off.

As she got off her seat, she leaned over and kissed him on the cheek.

“Thanks for the chat. Hopefully, see you again soon.”

With that she was gone. Michael was feeling quite good about himself but wished she could have stayed. He wasn’t the only one.

Going for a stroll (Romance Part 1)

Michael loved the vibrancy of living in London, especially on a warm summer’s morning. There was always something happening, and he knew the good places to go. The sky was blue, but could only be seen occasionally among the tall buildings. A light breeze stopped it from sweltering. Michael had just finished the last exam of his final year at college a few days previously. He was excited by what the future would hold.

He would miss college life but felt that he had enough of the endless studying. No, what he needed now was now a nice nine-to-five job and a long-term girlfriend. He had met many women at college, some of whom he kissed but nothing more and nothing that lasted.

Where would Lexus bring him now? That was the name of his electric wheelchair, his pride, and his joy. He had it for over six months now and it left every other electric wheelchair he previously had in the dust. It had a much greater range and looked much sleeker too. He reckoned it might even help him with the ladies.

Lexus was bringing him to a new coffee shop that had opened only a few weeks previous. This would be his first opportunity to sample their coffee. He always enjoyed life’s little pleasures.

it was long and narrow, he picked a table near the entrance hoping that a waitress would come and take his order. He didn’t want to get stuck near the front and be unable to turn around.. Because that would just be embarrassing. He saw a waitress, in a striped black and white uniform hurrying toward him. He went to reach for his wallet.

“Hey, you were in my class. How did you do in the exams?”

Michael looked up. Her face was indeed somewhat familiar. She was slim, with shoulder-length red hair and freckles. Then it dawned on him.

.”I did fine I think. How about you? The Statistics exam was pretty rough though right.”

“Yeah, it was like horrible. Like, I nearly had a panic attack. Are you doing anything? We could go for a walk somewhere maybe and discuss the exams.”

For a brief second, Michael couldn’t think of what to say.

“Yes, of course. Actually, there’s a nice little park close by. Maybe, we could go there.”

“Sounds great, I’m finished in five minutes. It will give you time to finish that coffee.”

With that she was gone. It would be nice for him to chat to one of his fellow students, especially such an attractive one. It was not something that happened every day and he wasn’t quit sure what to make of it, only that he shouldn’t delay in drinking his coffee.

Sure enough, she came back in a few minutes. The uniform was out and a sleek black top tank was in, that more clearly defined her features. So, out they went
